Thomasville Cultural Center

The Thomasville Cultural Center was built in 1915 to house East Side School, the first public school in Thomas County. In 1977 a group led by a former East Side teacher saved the building from demolition by having it listed as a National Historic Site.
Through community initiative over 3.3 million was raised for the building's restoration and the Thomasville Cultural Center, Inc. was born. Opening its doors on October 5, 1986, the Cultural Center has been working ever since to provide Thomasville and the surrounding areas with arts, education and entertainment.

Educational classes and workshops have been a priority at the Center since its inception. Weekly instruction is offered in violin, piano and guitar as well as art. Busy adults can take advantage of small, one-day workshops or enjoy one of our many Lunch and Learn programs.
Yearly events like the Plantation Wildlife Arts Festival and Summer Showcase offer a venue for local, regional and national art, while other events, special concerts and theatrical performances keep Thomasville excited about the arts in our community.
